    Ah Shoot Me.....

I am going to return the HOB skimmer and go for an in sump model....

The New skimmer is the Reef Octopus 1000 internal skimmer.

the picture on the bottom is what it looks like.

I really wanted to try this brand and their bubble blaster pump, but it is becoming more trouble than it is worth as of late.

FML Edit: I am building a stand by scratch now, and will post pics of it if I ever finish the damn thing.

OK so this would be the
    Official Day 2

Since I bought that piece of junk press board stand (junk because it was too small to hold any normal size sump after being modified and before) I decided to build my own stand. As of now it needs to be primed, painted, and doors need to be put on.

Then my construction of the sump. It is built from a 20 gallon long tank with option for a future dual intake, and I also added a hole for an out of sump pump. This is purely for when I upgrade down the line I may still be able to use this sump. I was so engrossed with the construction that I forgot to take pics during, but I have the finished product. (it needs to be cleaned because it still has some saw dust in the fuge area from when i sanded my stand.)

Wow... so P.S. that is why people charge so much to have a pre built sump. What a pain to construct that thing.

Good thing you changed the stand structure from what you originally built. I was just about to warn you about those 2x4 laying flat, rather on edge, but these new pics show that you realized it yourself and changed it to correctly bear the load of the tank.

    Everything looks good too.

After I built this stand I stood on top of it and hopped.

Not the smartest method but hey it didn't budge at all so I am hopeful

    Day 3:

Yay I finally got the drilling and plumbing done, The tank has the overflow and returns connected. Off of the 1.5'' street elbow i used a bull nose and reducer to make 2 1'' pipes to modify the flow.

    I used dual 1'' flexi-tubes for inlets and a single 3/4'' flexi-tube for return.
I made the plumbing more complicated then it needed to be and in the end it ended up being just 3 tubes and some pvc.

The only thing left now is to add water. (Finally)

    LET THE CYCLING BEGIN!!!111!!!one1one!!one....

Good work! Why did you put a lid on your overflow?

I would think it's to keep certain things out like snails and fish. Smaller ones can still get through the slits, but the larger creatures can't.

Good point. I get crabs and snails in my overflow often. However I leave them in there so they clean it.
