lol yea pretty much its too keep out my small critters.

I have been reading about people getting fish that jump in as well so I didn't want that to happen in my tank.

I mixed my salt and RO so by tomorrow afternoon I should put the sand in and some LR so the official cycle will begin Monday...

    Then we wait.

I ended up with the 700 GPH overflow kit.

My only complaint is that there are no teeth on the sides of the overflow box. I am tempted to fix that with my dremel maybe...

yeah I plan on doing that with a drill bit and then smoothing it out with a dremel. I was thinking about the super nano, because I don't there to be much to see. It also takes up less space in the tank. I need to check up on the gph rating again..

Awesome install video! I need a beer after watching that! Going to go with this for my 18g tall sea horse tank.

The 700 GPH overflow box is not very noticeable in my 29. It fely much larger going in then it does now looking at it.

yea that install video saved me I was shocked that I could actually do it.

On a side not i thought it was funny that they gave me a bunch of candy in my shipping box... It is the little things that make me a customer for life.

    DAY 4 of my tank...

My sump now has chaeto, fan algae (? i forgot the name), and grape caulerpa in it to help the nitrate cycle.

    DAY 5

My 10 gallon tank had a hard crash after I did a water change and cleaned the rocks/ sand. So I no longer have a QT tank to hold onto until my 29 is ready....
I bought 2.5 gallons of salt water. Went home to scrape my glass of coraline, clean the sand, clean the rocks, and perform a water change. The tank was beautiful, and the next day almost everything was dead with a giant nitrate and ammonia spike. My salinity dropped hard and my PH was around low 7's.

No Idea WTF happened so I brought my only living things (kenya tree, maxima clam, 3 snails, and a zoa colony) to the LFS that sold me the water to ask what I did.

After I got a lame answer He took my livestock to hold until my tank is ready, and gave me some macros as an I'm sorry.....

I lost some nice stuff in that crash, and if it was my fault I am sorry that I messed it up so bad.

    DAY 6
Ok, so I bought another 24 pounds of Live rock to add the the 10 pounds I saved from my nano tank.

along with this I have been using reef putty to build a unique aquascape that will primarily sit on a long piece of branch rock off the sand.

I know it looks close in the pictures but there is plenty of swim room all around the rocks and nothing is touching the glass. I spent the most time creating about 7 small cave areas to hide in, with swim throughs, and a few overhangs to shade corals.

    DAY 7

now i need to get rid of the micro bubbles....

I am convinced that the marco is saving me a cycle. My levels are all within range of a well set up reef. I will give it 2 more weeks just to make sure I do not get a late spike. (last tested my nitrates are at 0 and my ammonia looks around 0 a little higher)
