I changed out my 100 gallon sump for a new 300 gallon sump. It is a 300 gallon rubbermaid agriclutural container. I was able because of the size to make a good filter floss catch for the return lines and now I am really filtering the water nice. I bet it will be crystal clear tomorrow. (I hope)

I figure with all that water that my levels should be more stable. Any thoughts out there? Overkill?

That baby is a MOSTER, nice!

Looks like it is supporting 16 breeding tanks. Survey says?

I have a large thread under breeding called a "a breeding project in progress" but to answer your question, I am breeding clark's clowns, occellaris clowns, percula clowns, maroon clowns, bangaii cardinals, saddleback's and tomato clowns. Thanks for the responses.

Cool, my plans for my next generation jumbo sump uses linked Rubber-maid stock tanks on "steps" to create multiple chambers that gravity feed into the return. I wish I had known about Rubber-maid stock tanks before I messed with welding up my own acrylic sump.

Over kill? There is no such thing as too big of a sump! Lets see, you have approximately 290 in the tanks. I'm sure you are nowhere near filling the 300 sump. For the sake of argument you have 200 gals in it giving you good overflow capacity. That is right on the ratio of my system before I added the 90 fowler. You may think I'm loopy and you would be right, but I'd like to see a 1 to 1 or greater ratio between the sump and the tank(s). The only down side I see to that is the size of the water changes needed to make a meaningful difference. On the other hand, with that much water in the system it is very clean and stable reducing the need for changes.

BTW, I stopped using filter floss in my sump. The skimmer is the only method of physically removing "stuff" from the system. I am over board on the skimmer too. I have seen no real difference in the quality or clarity of the water.

Can you shoot a picture looking into the sump?
