    Has anyone had any luck with these flame scallops soloy feeding on brine shrimp?

    cool beans

    yea have had good luck with them but found that they do not tolerate elevated levels of N03. other than that they will roam around where they want. good lookin flame though.

    they also need to be target fed phyto or some form of filter feeder food, good luck

    They won't eat brine shrimp. They filter-feed phytoplankton. Depending on the size of the scallop, you might need to culture your own because many phytoplanktons sold to the hobby are too big for them. Yours is a male.

    Two ways.

    1 Almost all scallops imported for the hobby are male.
    2 Red mantle

    If one night it starts spitting out a milky substance, he'll know what the milky substance is.
