Unfortunately Loki has already taught Cass how to beg. Guh.....Lol.

Alaskan Malamutes are extremely intelligent, wonderful dogs. They'd be a really good family dog Jwin. You just have to make sure to properly introduce them to people, especially kids. Without a lot of socialization they can become very territorial and a little vicious. They do suffer from a lot of hip and joint problems too.

Yeah I've got some experience with hip and joint problems. Our G. Shepherd mutt thing has some difficult joint problems, and he's only 12. Definitely not young and spry like he used to be. :)

And I plan on some major socialization. That was a problem with our dog, too. He's a very, very protective dog, so he considers all people potential enemies unless he's told otherwise. Which is a good thing sometimes. But I kind of wish we had socialized him more, then we wouldn't have to go through our introduction ritual every time someone new visits. He does have an insane memory though. Once you're introduced to him, he won't forget and you're friends for life. So on second thought...the having to go through the introductions seems like a good trade for some intense house protection. Any bad guy who thinks he can jack our stuff has 70 pounds of meat (with teeth) to deal with. My dog has slowed down alot in his age...but he's still faster than me :D

He sounds like a good dog. That's really impressive.
Keep in mind that AM's also have a shorter life span and by the age of 3-4 they will start slowing down and showing signs of wear and tear. Its because they were bred to grow so quickly it's hard on their skeletal structure.

i have a dog that looks almost identical to that, although she is a a mix of pekinese and min pin. But when she was a puppy they looked exactly the same, she is the sweetest dog, she is such a lap dog though follows everywhere and just wants to always snuggle. Great addition to the fam. best of luck

Jwin- Its possible. Theres plenty of em out there. Great dogs, and mutts are the best.

Mikev15101- Thank you. She's pretty much our little shadow and if we're out of sight we hear a series of barks that sound oddly enough just like a rubber squeak toy. Lol.

I abosolutely love them!!! Your puppy is sooooo cute!

Absolutely! Our german shepherd/lab/beagle/heaven knows what else has been a great dog. Definitely a Heinz 57 dog! He's been the healthiest dog we've ever had and has hardly ever been to the vet for anything but his shots and boarding. This year, we had some trouble with tail chewing, but not bad for a soon to be 13-year-old dog!

Thank you. She's a doll and she knows it alright. Lol.
I'd sure take tail biting over all of the purebred diseases and disorders any day! Hope he gives you just as much joy till the end of his days, he sounds like a great lil guy. :)
