As I upgraded to my new tank...I have been really focusing on trying to get rare or hard to find fish. This fish caught my eye...a female bellus angel. The markings of the body is cool enough, but her mouth is amazing. She has these little marks that from a distance looks like she has buck teeth, but they are blue/black markings. I tried to get pictures of her, but the pictures just do not do her justice.
The Bellus angel is one of the few angels that are reef safe plus tend to tolerate other angels, including other Bellus from what I read. I am considering having the LFS order me a male Bellus and see how they do together....I asked inwall how to do this and he suggested getting a piece of plexiglass to seperate them and see how they react to each other. If they do well then I can take the plexiglass out of the tank. One article I read said that you can keep multiple females together with one male. They say the males are not as pretty as the females, but from the pictures I have seen, they look cool also, just yellow stripped.
I am going to let her settle in for a while before I add anything else in. I have had her now for 4 or 5 days and she is doing great. She is readily eating and swims around openly. She does dart behind the rocks when I first come up to the tank, but then she will swim out and likes my hippo tang.

Very nice fish! I recently saw a pair at the LFS but they were too big for my reef tank!

Good luck keeping her, and hope all goes well!!

    Nice specimen Mel.

As a general rule, the males are the more attractive of most species. This is one of the few exceptions.
