Hey Everyone- Just picked up a new birdsnest. I saw it at my LFS and could not resist. I know I have to move it up in the tank, just need to find a spot for it. Anyone keeping one of these currently? I have a couple acros and they are doing great so I am hoping this is not any more difficult to keep then those.. Any words of advice would be great.

I'm sending a full tank shot as well.. If you have any pointers on where to move it that would be cool as well.

    Cheers my friends!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Boy! That is huge, very cool. My only advise is do not place it within close proximity of the soft/leather corals.

Congrats that is a huge colony. It is easy than acros. And can do with a little less light also.

Thanks Everyone! Yeah I have never come across one this size so I had to pick it up. It was a tad costly so here's to hoping it likes it's new home.. Right now I have two 150 watt MH, two 55watt actinics and two 55 watt 10k T5's on my 120. Do you think the placement on the sand it ok or do I need to move it up closer to the top to increase the intensity of the lights?

IMO it should be high in the tank and have extremly high flow! might want to frag some of the outside because water flow cant get to the middle and the middle will starve and die. I have a green with purple tip under 2 150 HQI MH and is kicking @ss!

also easy compared to acros and grows like a weed if its happy

Thats an excellent looking piece RemickJ

IME - It will need relocating higher up, but its a good idea to start them low and build up in stages

I would aim for at least half way up and maybe even a bit higher

flow - with these intricate branched SPS , the trick is random flow, so that nothing hits it and settles on it, so chaotic flow around it is ideal . these are prime targets for GHA IME the branch work making it simple for detritus to get trapped there and encourage these algaes to colonise there
