Bummer. Have you tried any other food besides brine?

yeah...I use baby brine, artic pods, cyclops, frozen mysis, and tiger pods. I have used live adult brine also but they are too big for the babies to eat.

They seem to really like the cyclops and the baby brine The artic pods next and then the pods. The mysis and brine are too big for them but they will suck on them. I also have chaeto with pods in their netting at all time.

This is about the average survival rate from what I read...but again I was hoping to beat the odds!

I am totally bummed now....I have only 1 left. The second one just died today and he was eating good this morning! The last one is eating cyclops right now...so keep your fingers crossed

I cant figure out what is happening....other then the people I have talked to that have managed to keep cuttles state that babies are very very difficult to keep in captivity. I was told to not be too upset if I lost them, but I am! I really thought that I would be able to do it, especially since I had somebody here that was really helping and has had experience with them! Plus I thought once I was able to get them to eat they would fare well

Darn!! When I saw a new post in this thread, I feared the worst. I think you gave it the college try, and you did everything right--with forethought and diligence. But numbers don't lie. Statistics aren't always fabricated (if you catch my meaning).

There's probably no great rhyme or reason to it all, Schack--you educated yourself, and learned through investigation what the survival rate is for these creatures. If you prevailed, that would have been great--but being that you didn't just means that you have more in common with those who have tried before you and contributed to those numbers. Your desire to succeed is noble, but you took a plunge with informed consent. To be upset is natural, but don't be surprised. You knew going in, hon.

I know you won't take it wrong when I relate this to someting much less thought provoking--and say that if the news says there's a 50% chance of rain, we have no reason to think that rain may be less likely just because we just don't want it to rain.

I know you've had a tough spell lately, and perhaps this was an attempt to do some good. I hope you know that even if you end up with zero cuttles, you STILL did good. :)

well...thread should close! Sixth one passed today. Tested water, everything is good, ph, kH, ammonia, nitrate all in perfect ranges.

Definately not the water....Bob had a blue tail damsel friend and since the babies where still in the net, I left him in there until they got bigger and I figured out where to send him that would not result in him getting ate. He is doing great. I have some corals still in there and they are doing great.

If at first you don't succeed, try older cuttles?

That's a bummer they didn't make it :( You still have an empty 29 tank though. I still like your enthusiasm for the "exotic", so I'll still tag along with your endeavors :)

That sucks - sorry for your loss. I'm with Jwin, try some older cuttles. You should still try, they're cool critters.
