Very cool pic! We have been trying to decide between this and another fish for a new addition. After getting a lid built of course

most people warned me about the fish jumping out of the tank......well as you might be thinking he jumped out he didn't what did find was the powerhead sucked him in and shredded him to pieces! wth! a piece of his head and eye was hanging from the powerhead. FML!

Old thread but didn't want to start a new one so BUMP! I just added three firefish to my tank. One has been missing since the first five minutes I put them in the tank. The other two are slowly getting braver and starting to hang out outside my LR. I did not know until I read this that they are jumpers. I don't have a lid. Someone on here mentioned make a lid out of clear mesh. Any idea how that was done?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Look at the BRS DIY kit to give you ideas:

DIY screen top for aquariums - YouTube

You can get the supplies easily at more home improvement stores.

And yes Fire Fish are big jumpers. Very passive and shy initially and a little harder to acclimate.

I had 4 firefish and one hid for over a month! He comes out rarely then hides for weeks. The others are not skittish at all. Sadly I'm down to 2.
