Did you find out why the capacitors fried?

Was it just an old cheap quality capacitor?

 

What store do you work at?

Were you able to make it over to Rainbow before they locked up?

 

Horkn, the pump is 5 years old. The cap was a 1X1X.5 inch square plastic unit. Yes it was cheap. I installed a metal can type rated a bit higher in voltage.

jonjonwells, I do some work for Sea Dreams but am not employed by them. As for Rainbow, I would not shop in that flatworm infested place if the owner was giving his stuff away. He and I do not get along because of a dispute over the WAC site, he is the owner/ administrator and I was once a moderator. Now I am banned from the site because I asked him if he would sell the site to me. He thought I was asking on behalf of another LFS. He is very paranoid. I guess this is the problem when a LFS owns the local clubs forum.

 

Ouch, that does suck. Unfortunately, I have seen this happen more than once. I never got to step foot in the place myself. I just recently stumbled onto WAC and saw they were closing up. By the time I got there, they were locked.

I did visit both Sea Dreams and Extreme. Was impresses with the amount of stuff that Sea Dreams had, but they were lacking in the SPS department. Extreme was a lot smaller, but had some amazing SPS display tanks. I ended getting a couple of frags from them, but unfortunately they were just covered in red bugs (couldn't tell under their lights).
