I'm not too sure. Once they become leggy, you will need to mow the carpet down and it will take them awhile to grow back without decent lighting and co2. You can get away with medium light and excel dosing though.

Here's my 29 gallon planted tank that I took down last month with medium light and co2 injection. The baby tears filled in nicely after one and a half months.

Those mollies will eat your plants. My 150 was a planted tank before I went salt water. Co2 will help any planted tank. The growth rate with co2 was crazy, had to trim every week or it would look like a jungle.

They seem to be behaving so far.. I do see some sort of picking at the plants now that you mention it, but they dont seem to hurt it?

I believe i have the lights I used to have for my 29G that I used for coral. They are t5's.. maybe I can put them over this tank in addition to this ( just so i dont lose my precious shimmer lol).

Is it expensive to dose Co2 if it needs to be injected?

That might last 5 days on a 29 gallon. I still have my small paintball tank set up that lasted about 3 weeks per 20 oz bottle on a 55 gallon then got my 150 and upgraded to a 15 pound tank and it lasted 10 months. My paintball setup was from red sea look it up, comes with the regulator drop checker , needle valve and some hose, and a little reactor deal that worked great. Put it all on a timer and never had to touch it until I changed tanks. I thinking about planting my sons 20 gallon and using this setup again.

    Thanks ClippersTown and Gavinsons.

I suggest you skip the disposable co2 cartridge. You will save more money by buying a 10 lb co2 tank (if you have room under you tank). I'm still using my 5 lb co2 tank that I filled last year. It only cost $25 to fill a 5 lb tank in my area.

For a carpet dwarf four leaf clovers are great, for mid-back some hygro and more cryps would work nicely.
