I just got an Orange Fromia Tile Star from a local vendor. This is one of the coolest starfish I have ever seen. It just cruises from rock to rock polishing them up. Supposed to be very hardy too.

Pics from my phone....actually look alot better than I expected.

Anyone else have one of these? Experiences?

Your wisconsin too! You should've snagged one up while they were around. Might have been quite a drive from Plover though.

From everything ive read and my experiences with them they are actually the opposite of hardy. VERY sensitive to water quality and they usually end up starving to death in aquariums, they need a dirty environment where alge grows. Thats what mine did and limbs started to disintegrate one by one after about a month in the tank. Beautiful starfish though, i wish you the best of luck.

The supplier I purchased my fromia tile from hand picked 9 out of 500. Can you tell which ones mine?

Back on topic. Strangely enough, there isn't a lot of info about this exact species online, or at least I was not able to find much. I was told by many reefers that these are one of the most hardy decorative starfish compared to other common fromia and linkias. From what I could find online, they are said to be a hardier species. They do not consume common algae, they eat detritus, microorganisms and an almost invisible film alga. They do not eat visible algae and people have said that they do not do well in tanks that are full of visible algae. I really don't wanna see this beauty starve to death.

Nice looking starfish. I wish you the best of luck. I tried a starfish one time and it didnt go to well for the starfish. Never tried one of those though. Please keep us posted as to its health. If it does infact turn out to be a hardier species I may try one in the future. But for now I have no plans to try again.
