These were about the same as going the DIY route for making your own LEDs however, I'm not as handy and if I made one, it would end up looking very unappealing.

Also, I'll get a picture of the panel so you can see what the LEDs look like, the diodes aren't visible....would be interesting to peek behind there and double check :) I'll get the pics tonight and post them

Baisheng Semiconductor Lighting Co.,Ltd told me that their newest model BYFL01 is 150watt led and from the specs that they provided me - it sounds very nice.

It uses 144pcs US bridgelux chip and was told that two units are perfect to cover the 48inches long tank in its entirety.

This model has very high PAR value because it uses dual lens to increase the penetration by double adjusting the LEDs beam angle. However, it's not dimmable.

It has an unique chocolate colored housing which you can't find from other company. This model is a patent protected.

I am very tempted to get two of this model for my 48x30x24.

I have a 75 gallon aquarium. 48x18x21 Two of them seem to cover it just fine. Didn't know about the 150watt version but that also might have been too many watts for my size aquarium.

They sound nice...did they send you pics of the unit?

yes they did send me fews pics with proof of PAR reading taken with a meter.....very high PAR. I'll try to post some pics.

She quoted $749 (cost is little high due to fee for patent protection to the Government)for two units including shipping and timers. Again, this model is not dimmable. They told me with two units it will cover the entire 48" long tank perfectly.

That doesn't sound bad at all really when you consider that's less than $400 each and includes shipping from overseas.
