My new light is here. My 6x54 watt nova extreme pro for my 90. I installed it last night and it is so bright compared to my old 4x65 watt pc. What kind of acclimation should I do for this. I was planning on doing 4 hours of light for a few days then 5 hours for a few and so on. What's the best light acclimation option?

I have but didnt get it perfect .Although I will say my only problem has been glass cleaning twice per week instead of once as it was with my old lights

Upgraded in Feb, from 4 x 40 watt T8S (FOWLR)
    TO 6 X 80 watt T5s ( coral bug)

    Lights where 2x actinic and 2 x 10k - actinics on 12 hours , 10K on 10 hours ( thus 03s where on for 1 hour before and 1 after)

    New lights
    week 1 - 6 hours each day
    week 2 - 8 hours each day
    week 3 - 10 hours each day
    week 4 - 12 hours each day

    same ever since

and in each week the blue tubes where on for 1 hour longer each day than the white ones (30 mins am and 30 mins pm)

as I stated only issue was micro algae which the addition of Phospate remover to my filter system is now helping me return to 1 x need for algae magnet use per week

if I had gone a bit slower, maybe I could have avoided this one small issue also

another method if you have 3 switches would be to
only use 4 of the tubes for a period (1 month) and then bring the other 2 on line

I have 2 switches. One does 2 bulbs and one 4. Its odd. Might be a wiring mistake but it works.

Okay. Thats kind of an odd configuration but maybe it will make for a good dawn/dusk replica. I may just run 4 bulbs for a few weeks full times then switch on the other 2.

Steve's acclimation procedure seems sound to me. I am going to follow it myself when I am up to speed and all my bulbs come in.

Oh boy..... Just my 2 cents

    mMMmmM killer lights....

    OK here it goes.....

    If you have the time....

I have time to mess with tank for hours , and if i just upgraded to your lights from mine.... I would do the full s/w....out with old in with new..i would deal with whatever happens.

Warning By doing above could lead to who knows!!!!!

The poster knows nothing about nothing...

It's just what i would do,
    Mike
