So my better half finally got her wish after 5yrs of bugging me. We got a dog! I kept trying to get her to wait until we were in a better position to care for one and now that we are, she got her wish. She's a 1yr old dachshund/corgi mix that we got from a rescue shelter. She was originally in a pound in WV that filled up and they were going to put some dogs down so the shelter we got her from took her in. She was adopted right away but the home she went too had another dog that ended up attacking her so they brought her back and then there was us. She is one of the most mild tempered dogs ever, loves kids, and doesn't bark.

AWESOME! THANK YOU FOR TAKING A RESCUE! I train dogs for shelters and rescues and the 1 thing i'll say is these guys know what you did for them! They may have a few issues, but generally they are better than anything you can buy because they sense what you did for them! Plus they don't have all the inbred problems purebreds have(allergies, hip dysplasia, etc) Congrats! Betchya a coral he starts barking in a few weks though!;)

    Congratulations!!!!!!!

That is fantastic that you got her from a rescue center. If you have any training questions or issues send me a pm.

Many times the road is very rocky for these shelter dogs but some how they find a home and become beloved family members.

K+ for giving a great animal a home.

Yeah, I don't think I would ever get anything other than a rescue dog. We are having a little issue with her right now. She got spayed shortly before we got her and we think they pulled the stitches out a little early as her wound isn't healed yet and now seems infected. Could be the infection or the stress of the past days events but she's also been sick too and her stomach is making all sorts of noises. She threw up multiple times today and has just been a little under the weather. We got an ace bandage and some neosporin for her wound and are going to try and get her to the vet tomorrow. Hopefully the bandage keeps her from licking it and irritating it.
