So here are some pics of my mantis tank I recently setup. I've had it running for around 3-4 weeks now, started with water and live sand from an existing 10 gal tank I had running as a crab prison, of course the crabs were added too ;D There is about 25 pounds of rock in here, a remora pro skimmer, emperor 400 filter, koralia 1 power head, and 1 54w T8 light.

Been watching the params for the past week or so and all seems well:
    salinity 1.023
    ph 8.2
    NH3 0
    n02 0
    no3 5

I added some codium and red titan macro algae as well as a hammer coral that wasn't doing well in my 135 and a couple zoas that I had to frag, about a week ago and all are doing well. So after work yesterday I decided to go by one of my LFS to see if they might have a peacock mantis and lucky for me they did, last night I picked up a beautiful male mantis shrimp (slap jack) and added him to the tank. He seems to be very happy and active, he has dug out and decorated a nice little burrow and been slapping crabs around all over the place ;D

I have an order of some more macro algaes coming from reef cleaners next week that I plan on adding to this tank, I'll get some more pics when they come in and toss those up here as well.

Looks sweet! I like the tank too. I really want to do a mantis tank one of these days. Such cool creatures.

Thanks, he's super cool and seems like he enjoys watching us as much as we do him.

Thanks and sorry to hear about your luck. No LFS' in your area will order one for you?

    Thanks KC!

Thanks! I just couldn't imagine putting one of these guys in such a small tank, the tank I'm using is actually a 44gal corner tank that I got from the in-laws for free because one of the seals was leaking :)
