I just got a pearly jawfish yesterday! :)

I was so excited I happened to find one at my LFS as I have been looking to get one for quite some time (they are my absolute favorite on reef dives). I think he's a juvenile (about 1 and a half inches) and ate pretty readily in the store. Paid for him and picked him up later that evening.

The introduction went well (did it with the light off); he swam right to the bottom and made a burrow in the back over night. He even ate the next day just fine :)

Only problem i had was I think the light coming on today (day 2 for jawfish in the tank) startled him and he tried to jump (known jumpers so i hear and i've taken the proper precautions with my lid); i woke up to find him struggling on the top in a current and I think my female false percula took a nip out of his fin. Little worried about that, but otherwise everything is good.

They are a pretty little fish. I would worry about it knocking over rocks though.

The last two that I've had have jumped, found a way/spot to get out. I've decided that is it no more, but best of luck to you.

I have one also and he is the coolest fish in the tank. They definitely take some time acclimating though - sometimes up to 2 weeks until they find the perfect spot to dig the burrow. You will notice it may change its burrow very often in the beginning because its still getting used to its surroundings. Make sure that you do have plenty of live sand for him to burrow and watch your other tankmates - even if you have peaceful fish, they can intimidate him.
