Woo Hoo I got this last week and waited to post anything about it until I found it worked. I had to tell the co where I bought it from, that the pump quit working, on the first plug in but adapted an old maxi jet I had. They're sending me a new pump. It's a Via Aqua Poly Reactor and I love it my algae is going away! YAY!!!!!!! can't even see it on the tank, since I painted the back black. I got it from Custom Aquatics and their employee Todd Gabriel has been handing this issue wonderfully! I love this product and anyone with algae problems look into it it's pretty cheap and is a good buy! I filled mine with CupriSorb and PhosBan. I had to put the CupriSorb into a knee high first otherwise it went thru the pre filters and back into the tank. I know you're asking what's in the white blobs it's panty hose with filter floss coming off my emperor a little extra I like to put on every now and then when I see stuff floating in the water.

You best get the sock out . When you are using any Ferric oxide never mix the elements up. If you have it so the water flow do not keep the ferric in a fluid motion it will get as hard as concrete in the reactor and you have way way way to much in there In 200 gallon I always put 3 coffee type scoops in your style reactor just enough to go to about a 1/3 depth of the white sock stuff and just enough water as I said the make it wave all the time the ferric oxide just quivers like its floating or a wave.. You have enough in there to last a yr or more in your size tank..

Really Tangster I didn't knwo that I'll take most out right now. I thought the ferric oxide stuff isn't supposed to float around I thought it was suppose dot be packed in....Thanks for letting me know that! I did call the seachem peeps and ask if it was ok to mix the cuprisorb and the phosban and they said yes and everything I've read says you can.... will they not work right if they are mixed?

ferric oxide should rumble inside the reactor and be in constant motion, if not, it will be cement shortly. as far as mixing with other media i dont know but if seechem said yea then yea. i trust there judgement.

And it will take a chisel or screwdriver to get it out...believe me I've had it happen.

I'm not saying you can't mix them But being different type of medias for different type job One will or make become exhausted sooner then the other and one of the mix may be a bit more dense then the other and Will not allow the other to remain in a smooth fluid state .
And I have had to toss out several of our in shop designed reactors for the reason the ferric oxide became solid red Mars rock :) And by time I spent 2 hrs trying to save the reactor's I could make a new one for 1/2 hr labor and 20.00 parts :) Also the mixed medias one may be a bit more hard then the other and all the tumbling around would cause the softer one to be broken up ..I would never mix one myself. But It's not mine I'm just speaking from experience of seeing the results of them being used mixed .
