After the a combination of baffle failures and it just not being big enough I decided to use an old salt bucket for my refugium. Its basically a bucket with two bulkheads, with a 1/2'' supply and a 3/4' drain, powered by a 200gph pump. I am going to switch to a maxi-jet 1200 soon. The best bulb for lighting a refugium is just a screw in CP that is "full daylight"(6500k).

A pretty good invention...however, you aren't able to see the inside of the refugium which is very interesting and entertaining IMO! The idea of seeing a bucket along side of your tank isn't that eye appealing either, but it works for the other benefits that coincide with the keeping of a refugiun still exists and it is better than not having a refugium at all!!!

Ya I got the "That looks like crap" from my Fiancee. Its just until I get my downdraft skimmer so I can justify a building a new stand so I can fit the 40gal breeder under the stand. I find my self poking in and looking throught the egg crate is see if I can see any pods. I have pods in my main tank(seen them!) but none in my macro yet.

That sure is a ghetto fuge, but hey if it works ;)

I'm pretty sure there is already some pods in there if not they'll be there pretty soon. I also have to find excuses like new lights or skimmer ans such to build stuff the way i want it so i feel your pain ;D I always get the "thats not going in MY living room is it?"

    Marc.

Cool thanks for answering the "stupid question" ps good DIY. Hey got any tips for building stands. I am building a 55 stand to actually fit something underneath. Thanks!
