Im very excited to plumb this bad boy on my new 180, unfortunately thats a ways off cause im still remodeling the basement where the new tank will sit. Anyway, if anyone has experience with this pump or brand id love to hear your thoughts. Its a red dragon 6.5, i plan to use it externally.

There are other pumps I'd had gone with as a main pump long before the 6.5 R/D ..

I was not trying to rain on anyones parade , For starters as they say a picture is woth a 1000 words . Hope you got the good shaft .. and impeller ? May want to check it . And still its not my first choice as a main pump and this is not the only case I know of with this pump. But If there is a problem ? I am sure it will be made good. Its ok Matt, i got the same criticism when i bought the bubble king mini 200.
I liked this pump, my other choice was an iwaki...i liked the low energy consumption and everyone ive talked to loved them. The whole point in building my 180 "dream setup" was to put quality equipment that I wanted. Im sure there are people that wouldnt have bought a aquactinics constellation for lites, tunze 6105 pumps or the aquacontroller 3 either but to each is own. The pump was my choice in exchange for some of my old equipment on my 90 gallon anyway. Not a dime came out of pocket, i got more value for my used equipment and i dont have to worry about posting it, packaging it, or shipping it.
