OK, so it may be finally happening! I'm going to put my employee discount to good use and set up a 180G system.

Here's the dilemna, in August we got a baby snowflake eel (he was less than 6 inches long). We have him in a ten gallon tank until the new system is set up. He's up to 9 inches (estimated) now. I'm also eyeing a pair of bluejaw puffers.

Started looking into everything I can/can't/shouldn't keep with the eel and decided to try something different.

I want a two display tank system. I'm thinking 2-92 gallon corner aquariums, set up to look like a half round tank. Predators in one side, and a happy little reef setup on the other. We'll probably set it up on one sump/fuge and use a 6 foot stand. All of the predators I want, will be reef safe (just not crustacean safe) so I'll probably have some corals on both sides.

Anyone ever try anything like this? Any input/feedback would be appreciated.

Neither have I, but it sounds great. I like the idea. It appeals to my OCD. You could actually make the rock formations look like they continue from one side to the other. Oooooo I really like this idea.

Sounds great, but the only negative side to this is that both tanks will be sharing one sump. If the reef tank decides to have a chemical warfare, so will the Predatory side and visa versa. This holds true with any diseases you might pick up. Just food for thought. Luna

I think it would be great. When I decide to upgrade U might have to think about this idea. The best of both predator and reef. K+ for that idea.

It does sound cool, infact, I had a similar idea, I wanted two 90 corners, one on each side of the TV center. Anyway.

A full grown Snowflake may not be happy in a 90 corner. I saw a full grown at the store, and well lets just say it was really big. That is why I got rid of mine before it was to big to. I think it would be happier in a long tank. 3'+ long and as round as a grapefruit. yikes..

Other than that, very cool. It woud be funny to see the harmless fish against the glass and on the other side a 3' eel . The eel would try to eat the fish and slam into the glass trying.. Well, maybe not funny, but another thing to think about. You could have an eel with a concusion. Try giving that an MRI..

Why not do a 120g 48x24x24 Reef and do a 60g Cube Predator 24x24x24 or vice versa. It will take up the same space as the 180g, and could use the same stand/canopy but be 2 seperate tanks. You could also use the same sump and run 2 pumps...

I'd probably cover the glass in between the two tanks so they can't see each other. I like Geek's idea as well, takes up the same space on the wall, but 72"x36" stands are hard to find.

its a cool idea but one question how messy are predators when they eat. are they a huge bioload?
