Hello again people. I've not been here for a while due to work load and other stuff (I'm a heating engineer and winter is my busy time) but I thought I'd let you see what I've been up to.

Over the past few months I've been converting this...

The tank is a Tropiquarium 88 with a black stand, and I picked the whole thing up dirt cheap from a friend. Tank dimensions are 83cm wide, 37cm deep, and 49cm high, with a sump size 60cm x 30cm x 30cm.

The lid with a useless light fitting was thrown away, and an Arcadia overtank luminaire was fitted. The bottom of the tank was drilled and an overflow box built with a stand pipe in, which feeds a small sump underneath. The heater, and skimmer (V2skim 400) are in the sump, and a small 1200 ltr powerhead returns the water back to the tank via a uv steriliser, through one of the duckbills you can see. The other duckbill is fitted to a 2500 ltr pump which runs dry, and draws water from the main tank and returns it in a closed loop.

It's virtually silent in operation, bar the slight pump noise which I can't seem to stop no matter what I do, and everything seems to be doing very well.

    Livestock etc. is
    20 kilos live rock
Half a dozen snails and a few crabs
    1 serpent starfish
2 percula clowns in their anemone
1 goby (whose name escapes me at the moment, the wife will know).
    1 flame angel.
    1 regal tang.
    1 two spot hogfish.
    Numerous corals.
    1 boxer shrimp.
    1 cleaner shrimp.

The tank is somewhat of a stopgap, until a larger tank becomes available somewhere, and then will be sold when the bigger one is ready to use. Hopefully it'll follow the same sort of build procedure, now that I know what the best way to do things is. Some mistakes were made along the way, most significantly, I drilled the side of the tank and ran an overflow down the outside of the tank into the sump, and it was far too noisy. Wifey says I won't be making that mistake again.....;D
