I recently picked up an Apogee Quantum meter (QMSW-SS) from www.apogeeinstruments.com .  It basicly measures PAR in either natural sunlight or electonic lighting.  It comes with a 6' water proof sensor so you can measure PAR levels @ each coral.  If you live close to me, I'll swing by and log you levels for you.  I plan on hitting all the LFS in my area soon to log their levels.  I'll post all my findings on our local club sight as so all members can utilize it.

I'll post a few pics with levels later this week.

Could you swing by my place I just replaced my bulbs and I want to study the PAR values over time. :)

Very Cool Toy. That is something I would love to play with. Currently I use a photography Light meter to compare Light levels but unfortunately it is only reading overall intensity so I don't really know anything but it's fun to log.

like $340 to your door, 2 day delivery. You only need to use it every so often, so it's not really something every hobbyist should go buy. I think clubs should get together and get them as a group though.

All the local use is for fun, I bought if for a commercial use. I'm currenty making an underwater housing with a friend of mine for it as we speak. That should give a wee bit of a clue as to its intended use :D

I know its a hard one Matt, so I'll give you another clue:

I'm going to use it in tropical waters from 0 to 100 feet in depth :D

I could get used to it.
especially now that the snow is flying.
    I guess I wouldn't need a drysuit like up here :)
