    Well, this is interesting.

From what I am looking at, it seems my new filter is still breaking in and my DIY rock caused a huge spike in pH. Which I was warned about, but considering how long I cured it, I am very surprised. I guess I should have done more water changes during curing. Word to the wise.

    Free Ammonia: .05
    Nitrite: 2+
    Nitrate: 1-2
pH: 8.7+ !!! off the scale.
    pH in collection bottle: 7.8+

    phosphate: 0
    silicate: 4
    Iodine/Iiodide: < .04

*All using Sea Chem Test Kits.

Looks like I got a little time yet.  ::) [smiley=smug2.gif]

    Hey Matt,
Sounds like you're gonna need some more water soon, huh?  ;)
What did the params beside ph, test before it went into your tank?
I'm going to get some water (for sure::) )this weekend to test down in Bolinas. I'll let you know.  :)

Hey visual, good to see ya.

I actually still have 15 gallons left. So I am not in a hurry yet, but please do it and let me know, so I can go next time! ;D

I was ill-prepared and did not test the water prior to putting it in my tank because I didn't have a test kit. Sorry.

But from what I can tell it's good water!

I am going to do more tests now with my other kit.

    Matt:

Next time you collect NSW on an incoming tide, check for:

Salinity or if some prefer, specific gravity.

Salinity is the proper term for checking NSW. SG is the proper term for checking a synthetic sea water mix.

At 35 ppt / SG 1.0265. You can use my refractometer.

Check for calcium, potassium and sulfate.

If possible, use LaMotte test kits.
