Ok....my curiosity has been nudged a bit:
    (Curious designers need to know!)

Sorry about the carpet removal - hope you eventually prevailed and that it is all in the dumpster by now!

Why did the header have to be removed? (I assume you meant a bit of a soffit or bulkead to enclose the tank area somewhat...)

Was there not enough clearance - or was it some code related issue?

    Aren't field changes a blast?

We had to remove some of it for clearance. The plan was to remove 12" of it. Then we found out it was suspended from the ceiling with chains and eye bolts in a way that would take a complete redo to accomplish. So we decided it would be more cost effective and cleaner to just remove it and continue the drop ceiling the rest of the way to the wall.

Here is some pics of how it looks tonight.

BTW it took 34 man hrs to remove the carpet and most of the glue!
(That is with a power scraper and chemicals)

    Tomorrow we grind the concrete...

I thought about sending you an email about this, but I thought why not post it here so we can see feedback from others as well.

I try to watch the trends of problems on all the forums, and one big thing I've noticed is people needing help building sumps and fuges. They are not hard to build, but many people lack the confidence to go get the glass cut to the right sizes and put it in. Obviously it's much cheaper to build one than buy one, so I don't see any point in stocking and trying to sell expensive sumps or fuges.

Here's my thought. Carry some pretty standard sized tanks such as, 20 longs, and 55's specifically for people to build sumps out of. Also carry pre-cut glass in the few common sizes you would need to turn one into a sump or fuge. You could probably get the glass cut in some bulk and get a deal that would allow you to easily mark them up for some profit. I think this would take some of the fear away from a noob setting up a fuge or sump. You could show them in shop exactly how to do it and sell them all the parts they need right then. You could also consider building them for people for a charge.

I think people would be very happy with this kind of helpful hand in the hobby rather than the stack of pre-made wet drys and sumps that cost four times as much.

LOVE it! I felt so lost when trying to build and plumb my sump that I was dreading doing it. After getting some help and direction I realized that it really isn't that hard. But it was pretty difficult finding all the proper plumbing items by myself. I think your customers would really appreciate this service!

I have to agree with his idea. Building custom sumps to suit would be pretty cool.
