mine does the same thing. you can pick up those gas station style jugs at wal-mart for $5 each, they are usually where the tire store meets the sporting goods. They are like a green/blue color. The caps leak a little after
time, but they have this cool spout that works into the cap...

anyway, cool thread, been having fun following along.

Hi, I have just found this thread and am now following along. congrats on you LFS I am very happy for you, the store and everything looks great and it seems you have gotten lot of sound advice. What are your thoughts on servicing fish tanks as part of your LFS business? I have not read anything on this wall or maybe i missed it but are you planning on providing a service to customers where you send someone to service a tank (install, repair, clean, add fish, ect...) at home or office? having this kind of service involving an invoice system to keep track of services provided to each customer can be (i think) a good revenue maker. people who dont like the weekly cleaning or if there is an aquarium at a large office building these people may be willing to pay well for the services. I got my dad a 120G FOWLR tank for his bday and put in his office at work but i knew their was no way he was cleaning that sucker so I have the LFS come service the tank every week for about $60-70 depending on what was needed that week. Granted he as the disposable income where i knew he would not mind this weekly fee but if you build on this idea you could have 100 invoices and the service is pretty much free minus the hourly pay for employee and nearly free RODI water and make a good amount of money this way. you could have a couple (maybe more) vans with your Elite Reef logo and all! I know my LFS actually makes more then 50% of its revenue from these services while still being an amazing LFS but I do live in Chicago so the LFS naturally have lots of customers who dont mind to pay for this. just a thought. Good luck cant wait to see the final product!

You are going to have an amazing edge - given all the amazing feedback youve gotten on this thread. I just can't wait til you open although i live in NY!

So how is the construction progress coming along? What is currently being worked on / installed?

Have you painted yet? If you have not, I would like to suggest that you use paint and primer products which do not contain VOCs. I am willing to bet you already have that covered, but I always mention that to anyone i know who has some kind of interior painting project going on.

How is the new flooring coming along? You had mentioned that the carpet was a pain to remove. Just wondering how the new floor treatments are coming along.

Your family must be so excited!

    *cheering you on from NY*

    :)
