my own store/business...

some people are wierd and don't like people in their homes.....
i was just reading a thread on diatoms and thought there is another example of a need to rehome items ....when you are needing a black out and elevated ph in your tank.
if you had the space in your shop it would only have to circulate when it was not inhabited wouldn't need lighting or anything if it was tied into a central water system with the ability to close a valve and run independantly when you have visitors..... preventing any possible problems brought in by visitors getting into your main water system

 

oh and just a little suggestion........ being a newb can be very intimidating sometimes

Are you able to paint a mural outside to make your presense more stand out since you don't seem to have window frontage......back in the 90's i had a video game store and as soon as i put a mural on the outside wall i saw a rise in traffic to my store..... i became "the place with the mural on the wall" and it helped with word of mouth

 

thats potentially part of the plan. figuring out what i can and cant get away with. if i have to, Ill have my buddy paint a mural on a sign that i bring in and out. also, a folding sandwich board out front is in the works...

we recently lost most of our reef stores here and are left with pet smart for supplies and they don't even carry iodine, if i want anything specialized for reef i have to order online...... the reef stores were great in the beginning here..... but once they got semi-established they got pricey and fat-headed and business petered out for them. They got all about them and not about us lowly customers that waste their time with questions. If you weren't spending $500 plus you didn't count ..... i know that because i have been both customers..... go on a spending spree and also cheap out looking for deals

 

well...today is the last day of floor recovery. last coat of stain is on and about to go hit it with the sealer. pics to come for sure!! so, with the flooring out of the way, the painting done, & plumbing installed(still need a sink), I think it might be time to say that construction is over!! That is unless, i decide to go ahead and build/DIY the cash register/checkout area.

But, I think that by the end of the week here, it just may start to look/feel like a reef shop. Quite exciting. I am looking forward to getting into the next "phase" of operations. so, now its on to tanks, and cycling, and ordering livestock and such.

Also, needing to get some graphic design and web work done. Needing to finally get the logo done and cards going. Still trying to find the right person, i have a few friends in mind. Just that ive never actually "hired" designer and aside from looking at their portfolios and past work, I'm not sure how to "interview" them. And aside from price/time how do you compare them? Just my ramblings at the moment. Anyways, back to the shop. pics to come tonight?? for sure tomorrow!

 

Well, the floor is DONE!! pics to follow. looks pretty nice as well. so, after i paint a couple doors, that i totally spaced on, on to a new phase. not much of an update, but here are the pics.
