I just got back from my lfs and had them test for calcium mag. and alk.
heres what the guy said, my calcium is a little low about 380 my mag. he said was a little high can't remember the number and my alk was fine. they recommended me use this kent marine product to help stabalize everything. would this be a good idea or is there another way to get my water better suited to start adding coral in a few months. thanks!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
That is the product I use and I really like it. Your ca is in the ball park so I would not worry too much. Make sure your mag level is around 1400 ppm as well. I use the 2 part and magnesium when indicated, about once every 2 weeks for the mag dosing for me.

Thats what i thought, i know it could be higher but its not terrible. I think in a month or so ill pick up my own test kit and some of that and begin dosing. Would it be at all possible to get a zoa or ricordia right now as they stand my lfs had some cool ones. my other parameters are good. thanks!

That should work just fine as Cheryl suggested. I like the BRS stuff myself but you do have to mix it with RODI etc. The Kent product is ready to go as is.

How long has the tank bee running?

I'm sure you would be ok to add most softies.

Sounds like your off the a great start and will have a thriving tank in no time :)

Go ahead with a softie or two. ie Zoas, mushrooms, ricordea, Kenya tree, palys ect.

Give those a few weeks and see how they do, get your big 3 (cal, alk, and mag) all in line and your off to the races! Good luck and Happy Reefing. :)
