hey ladies and gentleman i have a Coralife PC fixture that does not work anymore. its a dual 36in fixture and when i plug in either of the plugs nothing turns on, not even the fans... im a pretty handy guy but dont know how to trouble shoot this. is it the ballast's? or what? what should i check and where can i get parts to rebuild the fixture for my 20L tank.

If theres no power to anything I would check the power connections from the cord to the ballast first. unplug it, wait 15 mins, then open it up and look for anything loose broken, out of place, or burnt up.

That should be the power source for the fans... Do the leads go to the fans? The Coralife PC ballasts have had issue over the years, esp the 36" version. My guess is ballast is bad.

open it up and check for anything blown or burnt up. Try and smell for anything that smells like burnt plastic and hunt it down. Check the resistors and make sure none of them are opens. it could be something like a 30 cent part to fix it. might be worth a try before dropping the cash on a new one.

or just cut your losses and upgrade to T5's ;D
