I dont think ull have a problem with light with them...but id just be afraid of the fans not getting the air they need under a hood....that goes for any LED fixture with me tho....i like letting my lights get all the air they can

I took a plunge! I sent in a Best Offer on 2x dimmable 120W led and got them for $310 shipped. (seems like a steal to me)

I'm going to cut vents in the top of my hood for the fans and also so I can get to the switches and pots.

It stinks that all of that stuff is on the top, if it were on the back, I wouldn't have to cut anything as the back of the hood is wide open.

I'll start up a build thread when I actually get everything going.

    Thanks for the advice kev.

Wow! sounds like a great deal. I'll be interested to hear how you like them. I am considering buying these as well.

Some auctions have a Buy it now OR best offer thing. It's almost like bidding, you just type in your best offer.

The last time he posted them for sale, the auction expired at 310 with no bids (and i forgot to log on to bid at the last min) so I told him i'd pay him 310 shipped for them and he accepted.

I'm a little nervous about the acclimation, but you can always raise your LED's and then slowly lower them too. If you do that, what height should you start at? Also, I have a deep 30" + tank. I doubt anyone has done any PAR readings, but I'm assuming the light seems to hit the bottom just fine, right?

I don't know how to do PAR readings but if it's cheap enough i'll give it a go when i get my fixtures. (mine are dimmable but i could blast them before i get any livestock just to test).
