After the lights are off for a few hours check the under side of the clam by the foot. Look for snails that resemble rice. Also, bristle worms irratated my clams to the point of making them close. They like the underside of the clam.

Okay so don't see any bristle worms near it but put in a DIY bristle worm trap in both the display and 75. I already saw about a 12" one going in the trap downstairs. However I do see the snails that look like rice. 2 or 3 on the shell. Have them on the glass as well. Never really though much of them before.

I'd take a soft bristle tooth brush and remove the snails. There literally eating it alive. They hang out on the edge of the shell just under the mantle and the soft part under the clam. I've beat pyramid snails before so it can be done.

Look up pyramid snails and try to see if they match. There's no mistaking them for another species. I hate them like I hate aptasia.

Any updates on the clam? I'm hoping it pulls through, it's really nice. I couldn't imagine having a reef tank without one.

Okay so I came home and it was still closed up. I pulled it out of the tank I examined it no bristle worms no snails so I decided to put it downstairs in my frag tank under the halides. I thought maybe my blue throat trigger may have nipped at it which made it close up. We'll see how it looks in the morning.

That's very possible, nipping will keep them closed. Keep me updated
