Awesome man!! That's great news. My wife is picking up a new clam today, a nice crocea. I'll post a pic as soon as I can.

Looks like a nip on the mantle. Maybe it was the blue throat

It's that or pinched mantle disease. Look that up and see if it resembles that at all. Seeing blue now is a good sign and it does look to be nipped.

Is the vent a small slit or an open gape ? And put some filter floss in the trap with some fish food under it .. And thin out that crushed coral to like 3/4 inch and you will probably not have any bristle worm issues .. Lots of space for trapped food when it's that deep and no extra benefit for cc to be deep

The vent is the opening on the clam that looks like a slit. Since the clam doesn't open I would say it's not gaping. Sometimes clams will have the vent wide open when issues are present. I'm still leaning towards the first 2 guesses. If it's nipping then that would be an easy fix.

Okay gotcha, I work from home today so look forward to seeing it with full lights on. I am leaning to it closed up because it was being picked on (literally) by the blue throat. So the big question is. .... does he make the move on the upgrade! Love that fish, I have had it will over a year almost 2. I don't want to put him in the 75, would rather find a home w bigger tank.

I hear ya. We miss our blue throat. There hit and miss with nipping, ours was in the 125 with coral and the squamosa with no issues. Think of it like this, the blue throat is cool looking but the clam has a lot more blue and blue = awesome in a reef tank. Lol
