    Considering most stands are overengineered, I wouldn't do it any other way. The stand I had for my 55 for last 20+ years had a brace in the center. What a pain to work things in and out, like large sumps, etc.

    IMO,big open front is the way to go!! :)

    Thanks for the replies, its going to be a little before I can build the dang thing, Momma says get all the stuff for the baby in order before I can get a new table saw. I suppose shes got a point...:-/

    BTW, is there a weight limit for hoods?

    I just went through the same thing, had to setup the baby room and put down new flooring in the living room and dining room before I got permission to work on my new tank, now I'm to tired to do anything, I'll start on it this week hopefully though.

    Yep. I told my wife that an aquarium would be a good thing...it would make little Katie Grace peaceful, like this...
