My pom pom crab thinks its a sexy shrimp?

My pom pom crab was pretty much the only thing in my tank besides coral for a very long time and i recently added 2 sexy shrimp and now....the pom pom crab is hosting the hammer coral with the sexies......stays near the sexies at ALL times lol

I'm unsure what to make of this strange little situation lol

also here's a video lol i find it all incredibly cute and funny but i'm open to opinions if anyone has additional info on this.

I would think the crab figures if the shrimp are safe in the hammer, then it will be too. Plus it might be hanging out hoping you'll feed the shrimp.

 

just wondering if anyone had experienced something similar, Lybia Tesselata tend to hide and be nocturnal, and since the addition of the sexies she's become diurnal and sits in open sand rather then her usual perch all the time, just chillin with the sexy shrimp. Just thought it was intresting.

 

Ah, OK. I'm assuming there's no predators in the tank? I know that some shy fish will come out more if there are more active fish in the tank, because they realize it's safe.

 

nope, as state previously she's literally the onlything in the tank other then CUC and coral. Still if what your saying applies it make it all the more adorable haha she's glad to have other invert friends and is sticking with them it seems.

I'm just glad because i love pom pom crabs and previously due to her being nocturnal and well they hide in general i didn't see her for days at a time somtimes a week or more, but lately she's dead center, on the open sand, stickin close to the sexies lol I'm ALL for it , more oppertunities to take pics of her and people love to come in and look at her.

 

That's awesome. At least you get to see your crab more. I always liked pom pom crabs but heard they were shy.

Also you use windex on your tank? Better be careful not to get over spray in the tank. I just use rodi water and have found it to be better anyway.

 

good thinking! i might use ro, I have a fluval edge so getting windex in the tank isn't really an issue since the small hole is completely enclosed but as a result of its unique shape i'm always cleaning the glass. ... well i used to always clean the glass lol

 

Glad it's out a lot more for you, it's probably gained a lot of confidence.
