my poor abalone

    so i got home from finals today and was watching my abalone crawl up some live rock while my lights we off and it just fell on its back i didnt see any fish or crabs upset it off the rock and it landed on its back so i flipped it back over and came back later i found the abalone being picked apart by my hermit crabs the only thing that has changed in my tank is i i ran a phosphate sponge for about two weeks recharging it every 2 days and then pulled it from the system on saturday do you think that could have caused it please help me

    Do you have algae in the tank? If they don't have enough to forage on they can starve.
