One of the problems of adding rock slowly, is every time you add more rock you will get a mini cycle, delaying the introduction of critters. But I understand LR isn't cheap.
I found, when it first started out, that the best way to interact with the tank with out buying fish is to test your levels of Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. You can do this as often as you want. the benefit of performing these test instead of just waiting is you can actually see the cycle take place. The Ammonia will spike and then start to drop. While the ammonia is dropping the Nitrates will spike and then drop. I graphed it and plotted it and did everything to the numbers. It's fun

    Everything looks good.

If your temp is around 80 degrees you will effectively have a Salinity of 36 ppt which is what is found in most natural reefs.

What are your nitites reading? Your ammonia has to go up for there to be a cycle. Try the shrimp tied up in the toe of a nylon stocking to minimize the detritous!

Couldnt u like medicate it? my lil bros made watch da movie like one thousand times today.

Fins will repair themseves rather quickly as long as the cause for the tearing is eliminated.
