My Refug design Plz some input

Hey guys, here this is the design of my refug. this is the first one i will ever built not so sure if it will work good so DIY pros input on my design before i initiate the project. as u can see in the picture it is a above refug, i will have my canister filter(300hpg) pulling water into the refug, go through the protein skimer then into the refug and finally water will exit on the other end(drilled holes). not so sure if this will work so please some inputs and suggestion.

Looks great. You may want to add some LR to the canister filter if you have room. That will just create additional filtration.

i was thinking of doing that but wasnt sure it was a good idea. so do u think the baffles setup is good enough? and how about the amount of water going through the refug .

Should be good. Every little bit helps. Typically the bigger the better. For flow I would just set it to go at the flow of your skimmer. Typically you do not want excessive flow through the fuge but with your setup I would just keep it simple. Plus the skimmer will be doing the most of the cleaning. THe fuge will clean a bit more but will benefit the most by providing a safe haven for pods to grow in population and slowly get into your tank to feed the inhabitants.

What kind of canister filter are you using? I tried something even simpler with a fluval 304 and the darn thing couldn't cut it. It relied to much on gravity and siphon to work. I could never get it started but as soon as i put both ends in the tank it kicked right up... go figure. Just a warning from my experience. Have you tried this or is it just in the planning stage. I would test it before making any permanent moves. JMO.

I'm using the xp2 also on my 46gal FOWR only tank as it's only filtration without the fuge that you are trying to add. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone but it appears to work fine for me. The pump will push through the rock in the canister just fine. You may want to do a small split at the top so only some of the water hist your fuge and the rest goes straight back to the tank. You can put ball valves before each to adjust how much you want going through the fuge.
