I first used this pump when my sump was in my stand.
It is either internal or external.
    I needed/wanted an internal RP.

I used 1" all the way on the return from the RP- that's also the size fitting it somes with.

When it was in my sump- I used it mostly hard plumbed with 3 x 90degree bends, and a 180 loop over the DT edge.
    It worked great.

Over a year ago, I plumbed that same tank and sump to the basement, and do use a 2.5ft stand for the sump- so I get some of the head height back.

    It's rated at 1384gph- at 0 head.

I now use it with a slightly spiraled, yet still straight piece of 10ft. long SpaFlex PVC tubing- WITH the same 180 on the DT edge.

I actulaly did a flow test using the return to the sump- and it averaged
    460gph- at a 10ft head using 1" pipe AND a 180!

Oh, and when you pwer it off, for DT maintenance, etc.
IT ALWAYS RESTARTS- WITHIN 6 SECONDS!

I went to clean it today, and have not even looked under the impellar housing in well over a Year. Pleased to fend vitually NO buildup!

I guess the design keeps it clean.

This pump is now discontinued however,
But I saw an ad for it on 3Reefs website today!

I'll probalby use this initially on my 180, but
I'm going to go with a larger/higher output for my 180, with it's C2C overflow.

I'm interested to know what pump you end up with. I have a marineland 180 c2c as well and have been shopping for a new pump. My rio is underpowered since my upgrade. I was thinking Eheim 1262 or Sicce 5.0. What's your recommendation?

    Sorry, just saw this.

I don't have a recommedation for you yet.

I'll probably start out with my current pump, and upgrade when I can find a submersible, affordable pump.
