Great looking tank, love the scape. Interesting perspective on cycling. I have also let tanks sit for months but then I realized that the tanks will go through various cycles for the first year regardless of the livestock. I would rather have something to look at while waiting for the bacterial population to stabilize.
I look forward to seeing more of your tank and hearing about the German methods.

    Thx guys!

I really wanted to take some nice pictures this week of the tank as it looks today, but somehow work and private life keep me from taking my time for pictures of the tank during the day...

So here's just a quick picture: As you can see, the T5 light on top came off, replaced by a Ecotech Radion. The shimmer effect of this light is just great and I love the colors it creates.
Currently I'm trying out the rimless look. Its great that you can see into the tank from above suddenly.

I'm afraid, there is no secret German way to deal with them, they're just a PITA...
I do have a little bit of them but what always helps the best against them is usually increasing the flow (checking and cleaning pumps, or even add a new one) and water changes. Everything else I tried were just temporary solutions as they're coming back.
As far as I know, you'll always have cyano bacteria in the water column, so key is to keep the environment cyano-unfriendly (flow, water quality), so they dont settle :)
