I figured I'ld post some picks of the install I did in my shower since I couldn't really find any in my search and there was a thread the other day where this was mentioned. Remember this internets thing is still pretty new so forgive the imperfections!

This is the unit just after unpacking. All the contents where present and undamaged.

Ofcorse I had to rebuild the valves before I started any of this. I had wondered why the floor of the shower was a different color tile and now I know. Apparently the hot water valve "stem packing" had been leaking and caused some water damage. The sellers of the house repaired the floor but not the cause of the damage. I left the valve-trim off for piece of mind that if it leaks again I will be able to see it. I also left off the handle on the hot water valve so that I would not accidentily turn on the hot water supply to the unit.

    [IMG]">[IMG]">
I used a 1/2" threaded 90 to connect to the existing shower head pipe with this bushing to make the transfer, 1/2" MPT x 1/4 rigid tubing. Worked like a charm.

Two 1/4" drive-in plastic wall anchors. An important note here is that I have a mortar bed with chicken wire and plaster behind the tile that is about 1" thick, these anchors are a friction type that pucsh out perpendicular to the screw when it is installed. If you have tile on sheetrock or hardi-board use a toggle bolt style anchor. Not a drive-in plactic anchor.

This is a pretty common mounting heighth, and my wife can see the valves if she ever needs to.:laughcry::laughcry::laughcry::laughcry: (which she won't!)

[IMG]">[IMG][IMG]">[IMG] Couple of shots of tube cutting. I could not justify buying to tool used for cutting this particular type of tubing for one stand alone project, I'll get it next time though! Very easy process just make sure that you cuts are square and clean with no burs so you will have a good conection.

Make sure that you press the tubing into the fitting until you feel the second "slip" of about a 1/4" where it is fully seated. I made 6 of these types of connections, 2 of them being less critical joints one at the valve for the supply and the other being the product from the unit.

Fully plumbed, complete with instruction manuall and TDS meter!

Oh Yea, the drain line I threaded into the trim cover of the existing floor drain in the shower. The unit comes with a saddle clamp for running the waste into a drain line under a sink but I didn't need it for this situation.

I placed a couple of scrap 2x6's under my brand new 32 gal trash can, I mean "Salt Water Storage and Mixing Vessle". The perimeter of the shower floor is level so I place 2 boards parelell to eachother and on top of those two boards of placed three more boards to provide a flat and level floor for the can to set on. It also raised the trashcan 2 inches above the drain and also the waste line coming from the filter unit. I didn't get any pics of the floor because it wasn't in the plan. I needed to get it done and fast since I had other responsibilities to tend to.

I placed a 100 watt Hydor heater and a maxi-jet 900 in the can and added 25 half cups of Instant Oceans salt mix to about 25 gallons of filter water to end up with a finall salinity of 1.026. I am currently using a hydrometer so its as close a I can get it until I get a refractometer. I did the first water change the next day and all of the tank inhabitants are happy, so I'm happy.

I hope this helps if anyone ever needs it and constructive critisism is always welcome.

Yea, I guess I could have mentioned that. With summer coming and the warm weather I got a little plastic baby pool, we'll just use that. My tank comes first! (I hope my wife doesn't read this)
