My Royal Brahma Clown Fish has ICH

    I have a couple concerns with some issues going on in my 14 gallon BIOCUBE.

    1) I have recurring flatworm issues and have treated for them a couple times over a few days. This involved water changes and medicine to kill the flatworms.

    2) Since the treatment to the flatworms my Royal Brahma Clown Fish has acquired ICH.

    I am concerned if I treat the tank for ICH it will be even more stress on my corals and other fish than they can take. I think the flatworm issue may have precipitated the ICH issue because eveything in general got a little stressed.

    I need help soon - Any thoughts?

    What did you exactly use in your tank to treat flatworms? And is this the fish your talking about?[​IMG]

    Yes, that is the fish I am talking about - Royal Gramma. I used flatworm exit 3 times over 7 days and each time did a 25% water change about an hour after administering the flatworm exit. I did the change to keep the flatworm "deaths" from poisoning the tank. Then I bought a six line wrasse and a green mandarin and over the past 3 weeks they have cut the flatworms down to "barely visable". Now in the past few days my Royal Gramma, which only had a few spots of ich, is covered with white spots. On Saturday I started treating the tank with Melafix per the fish store recommendation. Now my other fish have ich spots too.

    Now I'm worried that I better do something fast before fish start dying. I have a hairy mushroom, blue dot mushroom, and some kind of a polyp. Do the reef safe chemicals for ich really work and might they kill my corals? Any thoughts?

    Looks like you are dealing with some major issues.

    Never seen Melafix touted as an ick treatment. It may have beneficial properties that will help with other problems. It is based on some kind of tree oil that will collect on surface preventing efficient gas exchange. Strong surface current may help solve this problem.

    Your fish have ick because they are under major stress.

    I would suggest a number of "major" back to back water changes over the next few days.

    If you are going to try and treat with any other meds, get fish to a QT tank and treat there, not in main tank with lr & corals.

    Wish you luck....

    Get busy with those water changes. (a little garlic extract in food may help)
