my royal gramma has ich!

I have yet to encounter a fish with ich in my tank.. unfortunetly I don't have a qt tank.. what should I do in the situation. My other 3 fish are fine

Water paremeters are as follows

Ph 8.4
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5.0
Sal 1.023

Absolutely no other problems.

 

make sure hes eating fine. soak his food in garlic to heighten his hunger. and hope that he can fight it off.

 

I noticed it yesterday, he ate fine. And today he ate alittle but not like normal.

 

try the garlic soak. should heighten his interest.

just an update.. he still has the spots all over, but he ate normally today.

 

Not sure of the inhabitants, but either a cleaner shrimp or neon goby(aka cleaner goby) should help get them off of the fish. The neon goby would be my choice.

 

i do have a cleaner shrimp.. buuut the gramma is way to skittish to let the cleaner do his job.

quite possible he does it when the lights are out though.

 

Just hang in there and keep feeding him and keeping the water quality up to par. I had a small outbreak of ich in two of my fish. I just fed them like normal and kept the water healthy, and within about a week the ich was gone and it is yet to return (knock on wood!).
