Talk about sailfin's brain. Mine is either too smart or too stupid. Yesterday, I tried to catch my checkerboard wrasse using bottle trap. Sailfin was the one who get caught for at least 5 times. He is smart because he got the food and still have to remain in the tank. He is stupid because he fell for obvious trap, if I were catching him. :D

Hows the little guy doing? Normally Tangs dont get stuck to power heads, when my regal was under 1" he would play in my hydor k4. Never got near to being stuck. Heck he probably could have fit through the snail gaurd if he wanted.

My male clown did the same thing... small percula met koralia 4. I got him off the powerhead quickly, but he didn't look too well and did the swimming version of limping off to hide behind my LR. He was never seen again.

First thing in the morning, my 3 year old daughter went over the to aquarium and asked me, "daddy, where's nemo?" So I told her that nemo was playing hide and seek. I made the trek to a LFS, and when I got back my wife distracted her while I put the replacement nemo in the tank. of course she noticed that the new nemo was bigger than the old nemo.

Usually, a fish getting stuck to a filter or powerhead numerous times is a sure sign of weakness.
Is he eating properly? Do his fins look healthy?

my yellow tang was only small, & he was stuck bad & once i finally realised he was there & turn the stupid power thing off all his fins were torn & his back tail fin was bent & wonky! He also did the limp of thing & hid and he was gone the next day.

And as for my poor scooter blenni.....................my husband sucked him up a small hose & he got stuck with his head stuck out the end.....not pretty!

i just lost a percula clown to the same situation. it kept going near the mj1200 and getting stuck to the inlet. i shut the mj1200 down for 12 hours and just ran with my koralias and it got stuck to that as well. its now dead because of this. so i hope your tang doesnt die to stupidity, but really theres nothing we can do about a fishes lack of survival instinct.

A sailfin is a very active fish. Even if it is small, a 55g is too small for a fish that is that active.

The other thing might be that it is not healthy.
