I added it last week, along with a cleaner shrimp, and 5 little turbo snails.

He was sooo cool and awesome. My daycare kids loved him. We named him Spiderman.

I fed the tank some shrimp pellets that sink on Sat and some frozen mysis shrimp (obviously thawed) on tues.

    Yesterday my readings were:
    PH: 8.2
    Temp:78
    salinity: 1.025 (refractometer)
    nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0-1ppm (comming down from 2)
    amonia: 0
    calcium: 400

I have a bag of purigen and a bag of PhosBan in the back of my tank. (5 year old NanoCube)

Any ideas why he might have died? Should I have fed him more maybe? I got him to clean up the little bit of fuzz on my rocks from a GHA outbreak. It is all gone now, not a speck left.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It is not a molt right?

If your parameters are spot on, I would not worry too much about the cause, while very unfortunate, sometimes no direct cause can be identified.

+1 on the molt. I found my Sally Light Foot flipped upside down at the front of my tank one morning. Moved a rock to easily remove the remains and sure enough my little crabby came scuddling out. Check the body to see if it is solid and meaty or if it is just the exo skeleton.

I should have known that!! I did look a little for him, because I did the same exact thing with my cleaner shrimp years ago. But I couldn't find him.

    I didn't know crabs molted.

    HE'S ALIVE!!!!!!:):cheesy::cheesy:

    I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

I would have been bumed out all day, not to mention I might have bought another one tonight.

I was going to buy a fish tonight, but had second thoughts after I found him. Now I can buy a fish!!! Wohoo!!

yea, me too. My day care kids are all excited too. Except one that already went to kindergarden, he doesn't know yet. He still thinks he's dead.

I'll tell him when he gets here.:)
