I just brought this one home, acclimated it to tank water and temp and it looked pretty good for about an hour and now it's sideways. Why??

    Hello!
all I know is anytime any of my mushrooms get moved, bumped into, or so on, they tend to "fall over" close up or look sick. They will open and close according to lighting also. If they're not happy or getting the correct nutrients, they will also detach from the rock and roam around the tank. The only advise I can offer is to just keep an eye on it over the next couple days. Chances are it will be fine.

    Good Luck!

that's not a shroom, it's a toadstool leather and it'll do that sometimes...what are your parameters & eq? the good sign is that the polyps are extending!

Mushroom, toadstool- they all taste the same on pizza!! Seriously, I did a water change yesterday, all parameters were excellent today- I checked before I put this one in. It's polyps are all full, even though it's sideways, and it's cap is moving ever so gently. It was midtank at the store, so I was thinking similar placement in my tank, but I was wondering if maybe it was too high up in the tank, or it was too much light.

I'm such a nervous mama- I thought aquariums were supposed to relax a person!

    Give it time

I'm new at saltwater. and have a few toadstool leathers..
They will do that, and other things..
At lights out mine get small..
But at lights on, after an hour or so, look good again..
I feed mine now and then alittle planton stuff.
i got at the LPS................. DON'T OVER DO IT..

Look under corals, leathers..On this site.. And you'll find out alot..

They are nice, Good Luck.. Larry
