i know these guys are known to do this but i thought i would share.

So im sitting her on 3reef and watching the highlights to the Vancouver Canucks game and i hear a strange noise from my tank. like something the size of a quarter dropped in the water. so im think what in heck was that. a loose screw in the hood maybe..... or a i dunno. so i look back in my overflow chamber and there is my sixline just chillin at the bottom. i got him out in less than a few minutes but my heart skips a beat when trying. i get so paranoid that i will hurt it.
    anyway just wanted to share/

i think i need to get DIY on the hood and make something to block it from jumping again. any ideas folks

There is a thread here on 3reef about a DIY covering using bird/pond netting and the DIY screen frames you can get at hardware stores. I don't have it handy but I bet a couple searches would turn it up.
Don't do eggcrate unless you have a massively fat fish or it's a big fish, I lost an adult flasher wrasse through eggcrate, it doesn't look like they can fit but somehow they'll find a way.

    and the jump stopper http://www.3reef.com/forums/i-made/simple-jump-stopper-76376.html

Mine spawn every night and jump. I lost the first female but this net cover works fantastic and does not block the light. Hope this helps.

I have used this method before - here is the original design and instruction post that the guy made on another forum site - he sells the mesh on eBay at a very fair price.

    (his tanks look beautiful too)...

    good luck
