my snails keep carpet surfing....

    i wish mine do soon... im getting tired of having to put literally "handfulls" of nerite snails back in.. lol

    I picked up 3, then i looked around and THERE.. a bunch of snails on the ground.. literally a handfull.. more than 10.. in the same exact spot.. i was like what the ...........
    I picked the "marbles" up and put them back... i looked around for more.. it occured to me for some reason to look up.. and there was a snail almost in my roof..... :eek:

    they need to learn to stay in the water..:p

    Maybe its too hot in the A these days and they tryin to escape. Only if they werent as slow as snails, tsk tsk

    they are trying to escape to the ocean like the part in finding nemo ;p

    some people spray for bugs around their baseboards.

    some people put their tanks close to baseboards.

    some people put snails that have been crawling in poison in their tank and wonder what happened some time later...

    No idea if applies to you but be mindful.

    well i do ask my mom to never ever spray ANYTHING... around the tank.. what do you think i should do.. i mean.. everyday im picking snails up.. Not necesarly from the floor sometimes i find them going down on the side of the tank.. or i hear the smack on the stand when they fall lol..

    now you got me nervous:-/ hope i didnt mess anything up.. and get from work to disaster.:-X

    I have wood floors. I had the floors before I had the tank. I'm one of those folks that sprays for bugs around the baseboards.

    It occurred to me the first time a nerite bailed. Sometimes things click fast for me, sometimes not so much :)

    That nerite got tossed. I then got soap and water and cleaned all behind the tank and a couple feet around it. I can do this with the wood... carpet would be another story. Now, I still spray, but I don't spray anywhere in the vicinity...


    I can't tell you how dangerous it is. I do not know. It was just something I thought about...

    I have the same problem. If Nerites are collected in tide pools and mangrove swamps they are usually clustered above the water surface and emerge to breath. And, if your Nerites were collected near the water surface, they will glide up and out of the tank.

    mine are doing this too. i wake up to clink clank of nerites hitting my baseboard heater in the middle of the night.seems like big ones do it more

    maybe they have to do this after spawning?
