If you go to a reptile show they are fairly cheap, got mine for about $20, only have to change bedding every 3 months or if it gets really bad which the bedding is like $5 a package, food is like $6 a month in mice but when they get older a bit more expensive, but the good thing about Ball Pythons is that they dont get big enough to eat anything bigger than a rat. Also feeding depends, the reccomended amount is like a mouse a week, then some people do 2 mice every 2weeks, depending on how often you feed it is how fast it will grow. Tanks are fairly on the small size 55g will be maximum size tank as a full length adult, the only thing really expensive about them is their heat lamps. They run about $11 a pop and run the meters.

    Oh and sorry for hijacking.

awww he is sooo cute!! I had 3 ball Pythons and a redtail boa. I like the Pythons way better. I don't have any pictures. It was way back before the digital camerasd so all the pics are in a photo alblum.

And mine always cuddled with me.;D I made a 3' high by 5'long cage for them. It was 2'deep. I put fake grass on the bottom, a small door on both sides and the whole top lifted. The whole front was plexi glass. I had branches for them to climb on, it was really cool.

I had them for a few years, but couldn't get them to eat frozen food either. When I had to start feeding them baby rats, I couldn't do it anymore. For some reason an adult mouse was o.k. but a baby rat crossed the line. I felt bad.

Good luck with your, he's so cute!

Not a problem! Your a fellow rep lover, so I am cool with it! ;D Like you I got him from a rep show, only 5 bucks. He was super super tiny. The guy said he wasn't eating well. I know it's crazy to get a snake that could be sick, but I went with him. I thought he had better color than the others for just being a normal. You hit it on the head for the prices, I just run an under tank heater. I have mine in a twenty gallon for now. I was thinking about making a 3'x2'x5' enclosure for him. I want to make it very natural though, close to what we would have in Africa. Make a nice little waterfall.

I would love to see a picture of your snake.

awwwhh Darn it I would have loved to seen the pictures! :)

That sounds like an awesome enclosure! I am going to build one for him that's going to be very natural. Make the it look like the brush in Africa.

haha I feel bad too, but just think every time you fill your dogs bowl your filling it with chicken, cow, turkey, etc.... It's sad, but it's nature. Creatures have to eat. I had a pet mouse for a long time too, so I do like them. They have great little personalities.

    Thanks brohaun.

It has great color for being just normal ball. If you take him against other balls his colors are soo much brighter and prettier. I only paid 5 bucks for him, but cost between 10-20 bucks at a rep expo. He was super small and looked sickly. He took him a really long time to eat at first, but it all ended well. I feed him every week, one mouse maybe two.

o yeah, hahaha. Yes, I just walk around with it. It's funny, people look at you like why are you carrying a plastic snake, then he does the tongue thing or move and they jump out of their skin. Like older ladies with little fluffy white mops. haha It's great. I take it in the pet shop all time, when I'm looking at fish or stuff for the tank. The people at the shop love him and ask to hold him every time.

Nope, never hisses or nothing. The only he does when scared is put his tail over his eyes. ha I think it's kinda funny. I only feed him in a tub, so he knows that's the only place he should strike. I use a drummer stick to take him out, but once he is out of the tub, he is fine.
