I'm really new to this forum and I can't believe how nice people are here (and extremely knowledgeable).

Thank you for your kind words. Now you opened up the "my kid is awesome" door". LOL Um, let's see: Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do @ age 13; helps teach the little ones and they love him; honor student with 3.9 gpa; youngest kid in his graduating class (he should only be a junior vs. a senior); 3 college level classes this year, one at the university; wants to be a doctor; plays football; doesn't drink or do drugs (really, he doesn't); bought me a dozen roses for Mother's Day and had Mama playing when I woke up (song is from Boyz to Men); doesn't call adults by their first name (I won't allow him to); works a part-time job; made all of the monthly car payments in addition to paying his car insurance; and, he genuinely is a nice kid. Yeah, he's my son and my light and I feel so bad for him. But, it's a part of life.

Cool!!! :D Well, what he'd like and what I'd let him get are two different things. ;) He likes Ferrarri's a lot and has vowed to someday buy one. For now, how about something that's really good in the snow, gets decent gas mileage, and doesn't make funny sounds. hehehe

Truthfully though, the dad of one of his friends just bought his son a $95,000. Dodge Viper (I think that's what it was) and I guess it's REALLY fast. Jordan said that was a very bad choice for guys their age. He hopes his friend doesn't get killed (literally, and he meant it).

Grrr...can't embed You Tube video here... Help!

Vipers should only be driven by drivers...not children. I hope he stays safe, and others around him as well.

the youtube didn't show up :(

Yes, Jordan said it's a very dangerous car for most people to drive, but especially for teen age boys. He told me outright that he has nowhere near enough skill to even consider driving a car like that. The question is: what kind of a dad buys his 16 year old son a $95,000. car, and one that's dangerously fast? I too hope he stays safe and doesn't kill himself or someone else.

People are ridiculous... When I was 16, my father owned 2 dealerships (toyota/scion and Hyundai) and my grandfather owned 4 (Mercedes benz, Pontiac/GMC, Isuzu and a large pre-owned lot)... I drove a 10 year old 4cyl toyota 4x4 that cost about 6 grand... Yet in my stores I watch kids drive off with $400 payments on there parents $2500 worth of total income and not even act like they appreciate it... makes me sick. Glad I paid for my first car.

That makes me sick too. And, a $400.00 month payment on that
income--IMHO that's just stupid. And for the kid it's 10 x more stupid. And you're so right about kids not appreciating it. My son loves his car, mostly due to the fact that HE paid for it and HE takes care of it. He asked me about oil changes and I made him make an appointment to have it done (same place we went today). He put in a new stereo and speakers, and HE paid for them. He also just put in used subwoofers (?), those things that make music go boom, boom, boom and he paid for those as well. His car, his responsibility, his money. I think he's proud of himself and I certainly am proud of him (well, except when I find gross, sweaty Nike socks balled up under his bed and he forgets to take the dog out :yelrotflm ) It's the typical preaching though ----> kids need to learn responsibility and understand that not everything is free yada yada It's true though.
