To me, it looks done. It looks like 80-90% is gone already. It may recover, but it would be unlikely IMO. You should really know what coral it is you buy so you know what it needs to survive. A montipora and echinophylia need much different requirements.

    1. i diddnt buy it, it was given to me as part of a trade for some fish, along with various other sps frags that were positively ID'd

    2. previous owner informed me it was a monti (he said he diddnt kinow what kind), i diddnt suspect any different as I have just recently started adding monti's to my tank (each one of them having been properly identified prior to adding them to my tank, so I was able to provide its requirements... all of them doing excellent btw) and this is my first experience with a chalice... had I known it was a chalice when he gave it to me, I would have been better equipped to provide it with the correct lighting/flow from the get-go.

    3. I came here to figure out exactly what it is, after realizing it was definetly NOT what I had been told it was, so that I could be more of a responsible reefkeeper and be able to give it the requirements needed to not only survive, but thrive in my tank...

I dont buy things on impulse. I dont like to see things die in my tank. Not because of any money I may have lost, but because I value the life that the animal has.

I'm leaving you for the aquarist down the street, he spends more time with me, and gives me little gifts just to show how much he cares. Nothing says "I love you" like 10 gallons of RODI water. Its the little things that count...

I get to keep the corals

do what you want with the fish

oh and the extravagant comp. screen too...
